I work as a composer, producer and songwriter in the city of Bath, England. As a musician I play guitar, piano and violin. My influences are many but the key ones are probably as a chorister at Exeter Cathedral, a classical degree in music at Bristol University and a fascination with the Beatles music from around age 12.
As well as songwriting I produce music for tv & radio and production music libraries.
Studio
My studio is a Mac based, Logic Studio affair, coupled with an RME Fireface and Neuman U87 and Beyer201 microphones. I have a live room with a 1920s Steck Upright piano
, a treated voice booth and a control room.
I play piano/keyboards, guitar and violin, recording and editing in Logic, and I also use Logic’s instruments and plugins extensively, as well as third party plugins from Native Instruments Komplete, Garritan Strings, Rob Papen’s Albino synth, SoundToys and PSP’s vintage warmer.
I am a member of the Performing Right Society here in the UK.
Location Recording and Natural Soundscapes

I have been recording sound effects in the UK and around the world for many years. I have recently become interested in sampling natural soundscapes that can be used as inspiration for musical works.
The recordings of the gentle ocean waves on the south coast of Great Britain on a freezing cold night are perhaps a good example. Take a listen here…see what you think.
